The Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Program (RYSA) is a support program organized by the Centre for Rural Youth Entrepreneurship and Environmental Development with support and funding from the Federal Government of Nigeria, EU, UNCDF, and UNIDO.

The purpose of this program is to give the rural youth the opportunity of acquiring skills to start up their own business, essential skills for business, opportunities to make money, and also help them grow their local economy through their acquired skills.

The training has two components which include the Practical and the Community Business School (CBS) training.

RYSA Programme Training

The Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Program (RYSA) training is divided into two components which are the Practical/Hands-on training and The Community Business School (CBS). Let’s see details about the RYSA Training program.

1. The Practical Training

Beneficiaries of the RYSA program will be trained practically, to enable them to acquire the skills they need to flourish or do well in their respective professions. This training will be conducted by a professional trainer from different parts of the country.

2. The Community Business School (CBS) Training:

The CBS is a compulsory program for all beneficiaries. This program is been carried out once every week for twelve weeks. The purpose of the CBS training is to train beneficiaries with skills that they will use to benefit in their lives and careers.

How Will Beneficiaries be Selected?

To be eligible for the RYSP Programme, applicants must register and pass the test in any skill chosen by the applicant.

  • Applicants are required to complete the CBS training before the presentation of the start-up packs.
  • Applicants must make sure they pass the Training test and the CBS training before they will be given a Certificate and support.
  • Successful candidates are required to attend the mentoring process of the Centre for Rural Youth Entrepreneurship and Environmental Development.

Benefits of the RYSA Training Program

  • Candidates will be given N50,000 monthly stipend during the six-months training period.
  • Candidates will be given free work tools and seed grants at the end of the training to start up their businesses.

Eligibility Criteria for RYSA Application

Below apply for the RYSA program, the following criteria must be met:

  • Applicant must be a Citizen of Nigeria.
  • Applicant must be between the age of 18 – 35 years.
  • Applicant must have the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC).
  • Applicants must be ready to acquire new skills in any field.

Required Documents for the RYSA Application

The following documents are required for the RYSA Training Program. Make sure you upload documents that are not greater than 500kb. Documents must be in either pdf, jpg, jpeg, or png format.

  • Local Government Certificate of Origin.
  • Birth Certificate or Affidavit of Age Declaration
  • Valid Identity Card (Voters ID card, Driver’s License, NIN, or International Passport).
  • White background Passport Photograph

To apply for RYSA Training Programme, follow the steps given below:

  • Click on Register and input the required details
  • Check your Email for Verification mail (If you do not receive the verification email, kindly wait for 10-15minutes then log in with your registered email address and password).
  • Follow the next step and complete your registration.

How Long will the RYSA Training Last?

The Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Program (RYSA) Programme is said to run for about 6 months.

Application Deadline:

31st of December 2022 is the application deadline for the Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Program (RYSA) for Nigerian Youths. Candidates are expected to submit their applications on or before the deadline.
